Green Tea is Wonderful!

I can tell you first hand the wonders of Green Tea. When I feel like relaxing and curling up with a good book, I have to have my Green Tea. When I’m sitting at my computer and typing articles, my Green Tea MUST be by my side. I drink this all the time, but little did I know how beneficial this tea was to my body. Where should I begin? Let’s start with the fact that it’s rich with antioxidants such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). It’s great at lowering blood pressure, and also has cancer fighting qualities. Green Tea also has catechins which have stronger potency then vitamin E and C, and stops oxidative damage to cells. Green Tea is also said to fight diseases, so drinking it regularly can really improve your health! I love drinking it hot, and in the summer I make Green Tea ice tea. I suggest a USDA certified brand; I go to either Whole Foods or Trader Joes. I’ve always wondered if I could wash my face with it. If I add Green Tea with my organic facial soap or cleanser, will it refresh my skin? I think so, because a lot of the organic skin products on the market today have it listed as their prized antioxidant. It’s definitely worth a try!

Essential Tools for Creating Natural Beauty Products

Tools for Natural beauty Supplies

Everyone has their favorite beauty brand. It’s always that one “must have” product that can seriously break the bank. With good quality facial cleansers costing up to $30 per couple of ounces, it’s no wonder people are opting for more classic beauty methods. A good toner might cost $25 or more, but rose water has the same effect, is all natural, AND cost way less. Some of the best beauty ingredients are right there in your kitchen pantry!

I love making natural beauty products, so I’ll be creating my own to sell in my online store very soon.  I’ll continue to post recipes for you to try, but some require more technical blending techniques. That’s where the Essential Tools for Creating Natural Beauty Products come in. I’ve listed some tools that will enable you to create my recipes or even your own.

My suggestions are:

Marble Pedestal-                         This item is a general kitchen basic. The stone and marble made ones do the best work.

Enameled cooking pot(s)-        For melting waxes or natural Shea and Cocoa Butters.

Weighing scales-                           It can be electric or traditional. The electric is easier to work with though.

Measuring cup-                             To accurately measure liquids. Melting liquids can get hot, so glass is best and easy to clean.

Cocktail Shaker-                            For combining ingredients. Stainless steel ones are the best.

Double Broiler pot-                    You can also get a heat proof glass bowl and place inside the pot, but for safety reasons just buy the pot.

Oven-                                                 For boiling, melting, and heating ingredients.

Glass Bowl-                                      For mixing and easy ingredient combinations

Egg beater-                                      For blending certain ingredients.

Coffee Press-                                   Best for steeping tea to mix with ingredients.

Wooden Spatulas-                         Great for sugar waxing.

Small silver spoon-                       Baby spoons are great for dispersing product in containers.

Glass measuring dropper-         For adding small precise amounts of expensive ingredients.

Baby Medicine Feeder-               Optional for even more pierces measuring.

Glass jars-                                          For holding products, gifting, and personal storage.

These are the tools that I think works best. Keep up to date with my post and have fun with your creations.

How to Make Mistakes the Right Way.

I’m writing in effort to invoke some thought about your overall perception of “messing up”. Do you feel like your evolving properly in terms of spirituality? Do you understand the patterns of life and how to learn from your mistakes?  First of all, making mistakes are completely natural. I’m not talking about work; those can possibly be avoided, but not life mistakes.

People spend their days with regret from decisions they’ve made. It’s like the old saying goes; you can plan a pretty picnic but not the weather.  With that said, why beat yourself up over something that’s unavoidable…or supposed to happen? What if you’re supposed to go through the negative things that happened in life? In that case, why fight it? Finding your strengths through your mistakes is a great thing to do. If something negative happens in result of a mistake, then analyze what happened, understand why things went wrong, and let it go.

Feel better because:

A) It will never happen again.

B) I’ve become wiser and stronger.

C) This will not deter me from bravely going forward and stepping up to the next challenge.

Own up to your mistakes. I know it’s difficult and embarrassing at times, but the key is to experience it, learn from it, and keep it moving. There’s no one on this planet that hasn’t messed up once or twice, so you’re definitely not alone. Wallowing in sorrow doesn’t achieve anything. Just like a test, you might get one answer wrong, but that doesn’t mean you won’t pass. You will never stop learning, so mistakes help build a better you.

Take care :)

Lavender Loves YOU!

Love Lavender

Hello again!

Today I felt the urge to write about Lavender, the plant. I think it’s extremely underrated. I was amazed to discover how many ways it could be used. Lavender benefits the senses as well as the body. It’s edible, and can be found in high quality beauty products. Here are some fun facts I thought you might enjoy:

Placing a satchel of Lavender leaves under your pillow can help promote a goodnights sleep.

Lavender increases brainwaves associated with relaxation.

Lavender oil is said to have minor pain killing qualities.

Pure Lavender oil is a great ointment for healing bug bites and bee stings.

Lavender fragrance can cure headaches.

Lavender is a popular ingredient in massage oils.

Lavender is a part of the MINT family in the herbs dictionary.

Lavender can be found growing all over the world.

The history of Lavender dates back at least 2500 years.

Ancient Greeks used Lavender for almost everything, including medicine.

Lavender fragrance attracts Angels, and wards off negative energy. (For those who believe ;) )

I could  go on and on, but you get the idea. I suggest using Lavender as much as possible. Buy an eye mask, pillow, and candle with the scent. As a potted plant it can spruce up your home.  Don’t be afraid to get romantic; lavender scented stationary and colored roses would work nicely. The tea is calming too, so buy a pack and chill out. :P

Let me know what you think below in the comments box. I might do a Lavender gift basket give away if enough people comment… We’ll see.
