Is Beauty Overrated? (The Kick off of my Blueprint of Style)

I must say, I’ve been wanting to do this post for a while now. Just trying my best to get my thoughts in order, so here goes. Is Beauty Overrated? Now I ask this because I happen to think the emphasis on beauty is ridiculous. People obsess over it, and some believe that’s o.k because we live in a superficial world and if you don’t look good then your not getting opportunities or a man or blah blah…Look beauty is subjective no matter what. One of my favorite models is Stacy Mckenzie, and I think she’s beautiful, but growing up people called her ugly. I’ve seen people who others may consider beautiful, but i beg to differ. I would never say who though, because being negative is not productive so I’m gonna be a good girl and keep that to myself! Any hoo, being beautiful is something no one can achieve especially if they’re relying on the opinions of others. So the key is to treat yourself with respect and take pride in the way you look. Before you walk out the door say frankly to yourself “Am I presenting myself the way a person who respects themselves would”?

Now, This is a great opportunity for me to practice what I preach because I never use to care how I looked and thought that if I did, it was vain and superficial. This is not the case, just because you want to look your best does not make you self absorbed. When I started to work in fashion I quickly had to change my tune. And this is really sad for me to say but I’m just now really realizing how interesting make up can be. Its fun to experiment with different looks, its a shame I didn’t start earlier. So this is the kick off point to what I call the “Blueprint” of style and so the first post in this series is called “Makeup”. And don’t forget to leave a comment :)

Defining Beauty?

Its true when they say beauty is subjective. What inspired me to write this article was the National Geographic girl. Her name is Sharbat Gula a.k.a the Afghan Girl, she is described as true beauty to many. What is TRUE beauty? That could mean anything so I’ll go deeper into that later. Right now I want to talk more about the National Geographic girl, her eyes were the most captivating thing in her photograph. But I can’t help but wonder, did she think she was beautiful? According to her interview she remembered when the photo was taken. She said she was hungry and not really in the mood for a photo session. But there it was an opportunity to capture her at her most beautiful. With dirt on her face and an orange scarf, she manage to captivate the world with her beauty.

I want you to understand that no one can be “the most beautiful” because its all a matter of perception. I don’t think its healthy to strive for beauty because its honestly a mute position. No one can be beautiful to everyone, think of the most beautiful woman or man. No matter who you think of, I’m pretty sure there’s someone out there who doesn’t think they’re a “10”. So don’t strive for a exterior beauty, shoot for interior :).

If you feel good, no one can bring you down. I’d be lying if I said that when people say hurtful things it doesn’t hurt. It may hurt my feeling, but never will it stop me from being me and doing my thing! That’s the attitude you need to have. People are always gonna have their opinions, so if it’s negative brush ’em off and keep it movin’! But I’m spinning so lets get back to the point. Whats YOUR definition of beauty? Find it, then project that in your style and being. Its your way of taking pride in yourself and living by your standards of beauty. For example, mine is people who put effort into how they look with the tiniest details. It irritates me when someone’s clothes need ironing. Just watching them walk around looking like crushed aluminum foil just drives me nuts. If anyone out there feels the opposite way I do then more power to you! Set your standards high though. In a nutshell take pride in the way you look ultimately that little bit of effort will go a long way. I can honestly say that some people aren’t aware of not putting their best foot forward. Like I said in earlier post I will go through step by step the best ways to look your best. Think of this as a blue print on finding your personal style and comfortable mindset on fashion. O.k I’m done writing

Oh and in between I will be posting other informative enlightening articles for you so, look for the the word “Blue Print” in the title. When i have enough articles to make a category I will. O.k toodles! And please feel free to Leave some feedback via comments.

Finding Your True Self!

I decided to start a segment about taking pride in the way you look for the betterment of yourself. Yes, that was a mouthful but it’s definitely important. I feel there are a lot of women and girls who aren’t born with that “too cute to trot” gene were they automatically know what colors suit them or what hair makes them glow. Why do people think they need to consult with someone else about how they should look. There’s no way! How can someone who doesn’t walk in your skin on a daily basis now what you need to look and feel your best? Really, there are so many things in this world that may render you helpless.  This society is geared around the middle man. With magazines, show, movies, etc; its easy to understand why people feel they can’t achieve  goals  by themselves. No matter what, YOU must be responsible for the way you want to look.

I admire the women who do know off the bat what looks great on them, whether it be make up, colors, clothes, jewelry, what ever. These women make looking good look easy. Some women spend loads of money and some don’t. How do you know what type of women your are? Are you someone who will obsess over every little detail until it’s just right, or are you the one that could care less?

This might come as a shock to you, but I admire the women who spends hours on themselves. I think that shows they take pride in how they look. If they feel they need to spend hours to look good then that’s absolutely fine. But then  I love the women who don’t spend too much time, I feel they know they look good; A little eye liner here, a drop of foundation there, and a bit of lip gloss, sweep their hair in a nice pony tale then done! Brilliant. Regardless, your image is something you MUST take pride in. No if ands or buts! You owe it to yourself to be the best you can be! You don’t have to go about looking good the way others might, that’s why you must find your own way. Its not about being vain, its about loving yourself. I’ve read a lot of books on style, fashion, hair, whatever and they all have one thing in common. They show you the road to success, but through their perspective and them telling you what to do. The series of post I’m going to do is going to force you to ……THINK FOR YOURSELF!  I feel like your smart enough to know whats best for you, it’s all about being inspired. When I read these books on how you should dress or how you should put on makeup  or why you shouldn’t do this or that it makes me wonder.  Its nonsense to me because how on earth is anyone supposed to know what you like or what you look good in but you? It comes down to lasting confidence and identity. You have to feel good about yourself.  Sure, you could go to a stylist and they’ll pick out what they think you like according to what you say, but really…cut out the middle man they don’t know you like you do ;). This society is designed to make you feel like you need to follow follow follow. The strength in independence is remarkable. I knew this site would be a tool to set women, girls, and even men  free of the box they might be in, in terms of beauty and fashion.  Ultimately what matters is what I put in Bold print above. I’m not gonna tell you how to look but instead your going to find you all by yourself. From head to toe YOU!  Watch out for my next post. And as always feed back is always welcomed, so don’t be afraid to leave a comment.
